| Juneau: Thane Rd closed at avalanche gates | Thane Road closed at the avalanche gates due to high avalanche hazard to the roadway. Avalanche hazard is expected to remain high over the next several days. If a natural avalanche reaches the roadway, DOT&PF may not be able to safely remove avalanche debris until conditions improve through mitigation work or a natural decrease in hazard. It is likely that this closure could last several days given the current weather outlook. Thane Road will not be maintained during this closure; therefore, EMS services could potentially be impacted or unavailable during this time. We are working closely with EMS providers to keep them informed of any conditions that could affect emergency response in the area. Residents and travelers beyond the closure gates are advised to plan accordingly and be prepared to be self-sufficient for three days or more, including having adequate food, water, medications, and other essential supplies on hand. |
